We celebrate genuine craftsmanship
Our story began in 1976. The first 50 stores were built by artisans from Provence. Their façades were finished with a blend of ochre and lime, while local carpenters and blacksmiths crafted the shelving. Other details, including floor tiles, mosaics and ceramics, were created by local craftsmen. L’Occitane en Provence has grown considerably since then, but our commitment to working with skilled artisans and preserving traditional craftsmanship remains as strong today as it was more than 40 years ago.
OUR AMBITION
-
GOAL:
To support artisans from Provence, celebrate their creativity and helping their businesses grow and thrive.
-
the way there:
We actively work to highlight and support artisans, at a time when as many as 80 traditional crafts are at risk of disappearing across Europe.
Our partnerships – rooted in care and commitment
We work exclusively with artisans who meet our high standards of quality and share our values, with sustainability at the heart of what they do. We partner with craftspeople who work ethically, respect both people and nature, and use high-quality natural materials. By visiting them in their workshops, we gain a deeper understanding of their craft, learn about their techniques, and ensure their work reflects the values and traditions we hold dear.
We highlight the best of Provence
Through our products, store concepts and accessories, we shine a light on local artisans and their unique expertise. Together, we create exclusive products while sharing the stories behind each creation. Our goal is to give authentic craftsmanship the recognition and appreciation it deserves.
